1 / 3Cheam Leisure Centre
π Sutton, Greater London
Leisure centre in Sutton with a main pool running swimming lessons, a three-floor gym with cardio and weights, squash courts, and a group fitness studio. Pool hoist available.
Big thank you to Lisa at the front desk. She was incredibly patient while answering all my questions and made sure I understood everything. Friendly, professional, and a real asset to the leisure centre.
π Family Action Verdict
Swimming lessons are the most reliable draw here for families with school-age children. For recreational family swims, the cold pool and cramped changing facilities make for a frustrating experience, particularly for families with babies or toddlers who need warmth.

β2 x adults, 1 x 3yo and 1 x 1yo family swim. Arrived and was directed to the family changing room, a room with 2 cubicles and bench round the perimeter. If you canβt fit your whole family in the cubicles and donβt want everyone to see your βflowerβ arrive in costume. Pool was freezing, my kids teeth were chattering. Did our best to keep them moving, but βnon-swimmersβ (even those swimming in arm bands) arenβt allowed past 1.2 meters, restricting you to 1/3 of the pool). There is meant to be no lanes available during family swim, but a βfast laneβ was in operation as were other lanes, restricting the pool further. Decided to use the female changing rooms afterwards. Also freezing. Overall, I would not come back.β

βHonestly the worst experience. Booked myself, my wife and our 2 and a half year old son in for a family swim session Sunday afternoon. Aside from the 'family' changing room which is open plan but directly accessing the male changing room, there is no privacy for a family to change. The two cubicles are tiny and filthy. The obviously dirty floors, the entire venue was freezing. So much so we had to take our son out as his lips were turning purple. Had to wrap him in several towels to warm him up. The toilets in the male changing room were even colder, and resemble a 1970s TV show. Complete waste of time and money.β

βI would like to personally express my disgrace for this gym. The facilities are awful and most of the time out of order. If your lucky enough for the showers to be working you will bare the grime and dust and ultimately come out dirtier then when you entered. Donβt get me started on the staff. A girl called Rae if I remember correctly was so disrespectful to the point she actually made me cancel my membership. Horrible gym, would not wish it upon my worst enemy.β

Overview
Cheam Leisure Centre runs swimming lessons in its main pool alongside a three-floor gym, squash courts, and a group fitness studio. A pool hoist and lift access are in place for accessibility. Family changing facilities consist of a small room with two cubicles and a shared bench β inadequate for larger family groups. Multiple reviewers report consistently cold pool water and poorly maintained changing rooms. Lockers require 20p coins; no change machine is on site.
