1 / 2Dragon Miniature Railway
π Stockport, North West
Volunteer-run miniature railway at a Stockport garden centre offering seven-minute rides around outdoor tracks and through tunnels. Special seasonal events include a Santa train with decorated outdoor spaces and tunnel characters. Cash only.
I took the young 'un and baby on a couple of trips of the railway, we loved it. You can't exactly make a day of it (although suppose you could try) as the round trip isn't long - although with that said it was a fair ride for Β£1! You don't need to pay for babies. If you do decide to make a bit more of your ride there is the option to stop about 3/4 way round where they have some outdoor toys and a trampoline etc. Staff are friendly and you can park right outside in the garden centre car park.
π Family Action Verdict
Best for families with toddlers and children up to age six who love trains. The seven-minute ride is the right length for young children β long enough to feel like an adventure, short enough that attention does not wander. The Santa train adds genuine magic for under-fives with decorated scenery and tunnel characters.

βLovely little miniature train ride for Β£1.50, also garden centre with a cafe near by. There is a play area but just bare in mind itβs used for private parties on Saturday so if you visit and want to also go to the play areas I was told you have to come on a Sunday. A little shop to buy second hand toys and two little rides for 20p. Please bring cash as they do not take any other payment method.β

βTotally amazing little railway. Only costs Β£1.50 (Per person) It takes a out 7mins to go round the track. But is so worth it if you have kids. The staff and setting is really fun. Very safe and great fun for the whole family. They run lots of different trains and are more than happy to chat about it if you ask questions! Weekend only.β

βI absolutely love it here. The volunteers are all so enthusiastic - it's lovely to see some young people being encouraged to join in. Father Christmas was amazing and spoke to the children. Good value for money (Β£14 for a child, 3 adults and a present) and will definitely be back next year.β
