1 / 2Eden Rock Edinburgh
📍 Scotland
Scotland's largest indoor bouldering centre with routes rated on a number scale from beginner upward, a separate kids room, and an eco-friendly café. No ropes — pure bouldering on safety mats throughout.
Fantastic venue with so much room for climbers. The staff are always helpful and friendly. Most the people you will meet are also great meaning the atmosphere is also great. There is enough variety for everyone and multiple levels for creating space between climbers. There is also a shop and cafe so you aren't missing out if you spend a day here
🏆 Family Action Verdict
Best for families with children aged 7+ who want to try bouldering in a non-competitive setting. The separate kids area and friendly staff make first visits easy. Bouldering only — no roped climbing — which suits beginners and removes the need for harness fitting.

“Took my son here. Welcoming staff, relaxed vibe, large range of routes catering for all abilities. All bouldering - no roped climbing- but really enjoyable. Actually think I prefer this place to the EICA.”

“Took my daughter (7yo) to meet friends who have been climbing before. Was a friendly atmosphere, plenty to keep adults and kids entertained and we spent a good 2 hours there. Will definitely go back!”

“Decent climbing wall. There is plenty of parking, a cafe, and a shop selling shoes. It is spacious and there is a separate area for small children. Plenty of problems ranging from beginner to hard, which they rate in a number scale where 1 is easiest. The setting is variable and can be somewhat reachy for smaller women. My biggest criticism is the walls are made from regular painted plywood for a no tex finish, which stops smearing - a real problem especially for shorter climbers. In my view the cheap beat-up walls need replacing with up to date materials.”
