1 / 2Fancott Miniature Railway
📍 Fancott, Greater London
Britain's oldest pub-based miniature railway: 7¼-inch gauge, three-quarter mile oval circuit through the gardens of The Fancott pub. Volunteer-operated, weather-dependent, with steam and diesel locomotives. Card payments accepted.
Amazing local volunteers own and operates the UK last Pub based Miniature Railway train 🚂. Only £2 per person and they do now take card. They typically only run the train in good weather. But well worth a visit, if looking for a nice pub garden with something a bit different for kids
🏆 Family Action Verdict
Best for train-enthusiast families combining a countryside pub visit with a genuine volunteer-run miniature railway experience. The charm is in its authenticity — this is a working heritage railway, not a theme park ride. Weather-dependent scheduling is the main variable, so check conditions before travelling any distance.

“Pulled off M1 for overnight stop. Allowed to stay in the Fancott pub car park. Very good staff. Nice pint and pot of tea. There is a restaurant, children's play area and miniture railway at the pub. Good night's sleep back on the road refreshed. Thanks”

“5 stars all day long. Lovely people and great fun for kids (and the young at heart). Next to a good pub, so can easily make a nice outing for the family. Well worth coming off the motorway for a visit”

“A nice (although short) ride around a grassed play area. The railway is very well managed and organised... However, the price is now £3 per person, which has put us off returning! At a lower cost, we would have had more rides and stay longer (a win/win for the railway and the pub)... such a shame. Definitely over-priced for families!”
