Five Sisters Zoo
π Polbeth, Central Scotland
Family-run zoo in West Lothian with over 160 species including Scotland's only cheetah, rescued brown bears, an indoor reptile house, lemur soft play, and seasonal Christmas illuminations.
Hands down the best zoo Iβve visited. Animals were so well looked after, staff were lovely - helpful and friendly. Could not get over the amount of different animals. Loved the unusual displays - something for both older and younger family members. Soft play was also a welcome rest. And kids loved it. Would love to return for the Christmas lights and the summer rides and things. Highly recommend. Some of the reviews on here are silly π€·ββοΈ We spent around 4 hours here but could easily have spent the whole day. Didnβt see many empty enclosures π€·ββοΈ and the black bear has signs explaining they are monitoring the behaviour as he is still settling in. You can tell that staff are very passionate about the animals and their wellbeing. We watched several staff members interacting with them.
π Family Action Verdict
Best for families with children of any age who want to see well-kept animals and hear passionate conservation stories from the keepers. The Christmas illuminations are a genuine highlight worth booking in advance.

βA fantastic zoo with a wide variety of animals. Weβve been coming here for years and have never been disappointed β whether on regular visits, during the zookeeper experiences, or this evening at Santaβs Grotto and the illuminated stroll. The effort that has gone into this place is unreal. An absolutely fantastic evening and, without doubt, the most Christmassy event weβve ever had the pleasure of attending. Great work by the whole team β from Santa and his elf to the car park attendants, the lady selling the tokens, and the fresh crΓͺpe and doughnut staff. Everything was excellent. The staff were brilliant and, despite how busy it was, everything ran smoothly β we donβt think we waited more than ten minutes for anything. Loved it (and so did the kids π)β

βWe had a great time at the Illuminations on Wednesday night! Entering through the tunnel is much better than going through the main entrance, it makes it feel more magical. Our 2 year old was amazed by all the lights and had the best time. We were really lucky that we got to see some of the animals too which is a good bonus (she LOVES the penguins and Lions). I enjoyed it much more than I did last year and will hopefully visit again next year since we now live 2 mins away π«ΆπΌ Great effort by all of the team π₯°β

βFantastic enclosures and very happy and content animals. I was super impressed with the animals husbandry and it is clear they have created the best environment for each animals needs. The staff were friendly and clearly cared about the animals on their care. We had a fantastic day out and could have stayed longer. A very well deserved 5 stars.β
