1 / 3Lee Valley Riding Centre
📍 London, Greater London
Full-facility riding centre with indoor and outdoor arenas, lessons for all abilities, free parking, and pram access. Beginners enter via the 'Have a Go' programme before progressing to regular lessons.
I cannot praise this school enough. A very welcoming environment and the level of knowledge is second to none. The front of house team have always been so lovely to me, and to anyone I bring with me to my lessons, and very approcable. They always call me back when I send 20 emails (sorry haha) My favourite instructor is Severia, she is so knowledgeable, approachable and an all around lovely person. She pushes to get the best out of you in every lesson. I cannot wait for my niece to start learning with her. She has genuinely given me so much confidence and encouragement. This school should be proud to have such an outstanding instructor. She is a credit to this company. The people here are all wonderful, Billie and Farrah are also so brilliant, and Vicki is an absolute diamond. I feel so comfortable here. Great school!
🏆 Family Action Verdict
Best for families who are ready to commit to the structured beginner pathway. The 'Have a Go' programme requires persistence to book, and progression to regular lessons takes several sessions — families wanting a one-off experience will find the access route frustrating.

“Lee Valley riding center is truly exceptional . The facilities are amazing, the lessons high quality and the instructors knowledgeable, supportive and passionate about what they do. They cater for all levels, all the horses are well mannered and great teachers. What really sets this place apart though is how much they genuinely care for the horses. The horses are happy , well cared for, always have clean beds, forage and receive all year turnout which is rare in London - and which is important to me when choosing where to ride. It’s reassuring to be at a riding school where horse welfare is a top priority. I couldn’t recommend Lee valley riding center more highly!”

“Hey! 👋. Nice centre. This was my first riding centre ever and whenever I had the trainer that would have left the riding school now, I did progress nicely. However, now that he’s gone, with all due respect, I would recommend for the instructors that are left to be a little more involved with their riders progressing a little faster, and being more interdependent in doing their stirrups and girth unless asked for help. Thanks for this centre for teaching me the basics, but I’ve now moved to another riding centre and happily riding canter with their help- and Lee valley riding centre’s for teaching me the starters and helping me move on to new rider. Overall, nice centre, good horses - but needs just a little faster progress. Bye!🐴”

“Prospective new riders should be aware that access to lessons appears to be extremely limited. After several weeks of attempting to make contact to book class for my daughter , I was eventually advised that the only route into lessons is via booking “Have a Go” sessions online. On checking the website, no availability was shown. I later learned that just six spaces are released every two weeks, that they are booked very quickly, and that no specific date or time is published for when these spaces go live. In addition, I was informed that ten “Have a Go” sessions must be completed before a rider can qualify to book regular lessons. Given the very limited release of spaces, this effectively makes progression into lessons highly uncertain and potentially impossible . For a centre intended to serve the wider community, the absence of a transparent or accessible entry pathway makes participation extremely difficult for new families. It would be helpful to see clearer communication around availability and a more workable structure for those wishing to begin training.”
