Life Leisure Grand Central
π Stockport, North West
Budget-friendly swimming complex in Stockport with two pools, interactive slides, and a hot tub. Padel courts and group exercise classes also available. NCP car park at the rear offers free access on Sundays and bank holidays.
This place has seriously improved. The changing rooms have been cleaned and new hairdryers. There are 2 pools and both are clean. A hot tub and slides And it isa very cheap.
π Family Action Verdict
Best for budget-focused families with children who want slides and pool time rather than pristine facilities. The interactive slides consistently impress kids, and the dual-pool setup gives swimmers room to move. Bring your own padlock, budget for slide add-ons, and arrive with snacks as there is no cafe on site.

βOk so this has been a difficult one for me to review. The staff are lovely & on the ball monitoring the pool, the vending machines are well stocked, a little pricey but arenβt they all! Theres ample seating in spectator style seating. I love that i can lane swim & the kids can play on the slides and i can see them. The kids love the interactive slides. Howeverβ¦..itβs just a bit tatty! dated! In desperate need of a revamp! The paint work everywhere is chipped, the showers are a bit grubby, the toilets need a good clean. Locks are broken on changing room doors & it generally needs a good spruce up! Now it is one of the cheaper swimming baths around at only Β£3.05 for children Β£5 for adults & a family of 4 for Β£11.90! Bargain! Slight annoyance is that you have to pay extra for the slides at Β£1.15 each, yes only a bit extra but itβs my pet hate when things are not included! Lockers are a padlock and no alternative! Again slightly annoying as I donβt tend to carry a padlock with me and then I have to not lose the key in the baths! If you forget your padlock you can buy one from reception for Β£4. I suppose if youβre a regular here & youβre not as forgetful as I am then itβs not too bad! If youβre like me then itβs a Β£4 padlock every time & a load of padlocks at home that you donβt need π(sorry went off then) π ΏοΈThey donβt have their own car park but there are a few around, one being the NCP at the back. Itβs free Sundays & bank holidays. The rest of the time itβs only Β£1 but you have to download the NCP app as itβs cashless parking. Iβm not too sure about other parking options as I have only used this one. It is massively lacking a cafe too. Butβ¦.. you get what you pay for π€·ββοΈ Will I return with the kids now & againβ¦.probably as itβs affordable especially in the school holidays! I would probably give it an overall of 3.5 (just keep your flip flops on π©΄π©΄ )β

βMy experience tonight was very poor and I am cancelling my membership tonight as the Stockport clientele has been going down hill week on week (I wonder why.....) and this was the final straw. Booked in for the fun swim in the "family pool" 5pm with my 2 year old daughter. Got in to the "family pool" with a group of 6 men together with one child and the jacuzzi full with 5 men and 1 child. Nobody else. So including me, 13 MEN and 3 kids. There is a rule which is 2 kids max per 1 adult but weirdly there is not the other way around. I did not feel comfortable with having my daughter in the pool with these men nor in the jacuzzi so only ended up in the jacuzzi once they had all left at 5.40pm. I find it bizarre that men of that age want to be in a family pool anyway but that fact that life leisure allow it, is utterly disgusting. I questioned the lifeguard who couldn't agree with me but I could tell he did think it was strange.β

βThe pool itself is fairly well maintained and good for lane swimming but the place as a whole is a train wreck with terrible management and most employees being kids. Changing rooms are always wet and dirty, toilets disgusting plus nothing actually works. The health suite which used to be great but has been out of action for MONTHS and every time I ask no one has any idea when itβs going to open. Bit of a piss take when you consider that I joined partly for the health suite. The gym itself isnβt actually bad just old equipment but not worth the price when you consider other places charging the same amount. Iβll be changing gyms soon as I just canβt be bothered asking about things that donβt work and seemingly are never fixed.β
