1 / 3Nob End
đ Bolton, North West
A tranquil nature reserve and SSSI alongside the canal basin near Bolton, with walking routes connecting Farnsworth and Kearsley train stations. Features unique Meccano-style structures including a footbridge and picnic benches.
What a great day of walking . Exploring the canal . From Farnsworth train station to the country park at mosses gate along the canal at Nob end canal basin along the old canal which is in the process of being cleaned by the canal trust .. Then out by Kersealy train station . Beautiful walk on a warm sunny day. Good long walk.
đ Family Action Verdict
Best for families with older children and confident walkers who enjoy nature and wildlife without needing facilities. The canal-side setting is genuinely peaceful, and the Meccano structures are a quirky talking point. Families with pushchairs or toddlers will find the potentially overgrown paths and lack of parking logistically challenging.
