Went along to Northfield leisure centre today to enquire about membership. Able to discuss what I wanted from a gym membership and discussed options... Receptionist offered insightful assistance setting me up with a membership that will suit my needs.. Advised me what app to download to book classes... Enquired about access to pool for individuals with a disability time taken to show the assisted chair and pod to gain entry to pool, shown a room with a hoist to assist individuals out of personal wheelchair.. Pool area looked clean and well maintained with an alert lifeguard on duty not playing on a phone. Locker facilties and changing room for classes and gym.. Looking forward to using this facility.. Big shout out and thank you to staff who assisted myself today.

πŸ† Family Action Verdict

Best suited to families who specifically need the accessibility provision β€” the pool pod and changing places room are rare features that make this a go-to for families with additional needs. For general family swimming, visit on Wednesdays for the most relaxed conditions.

ℹ️ What to Know Before You Go

πŸ’‘Visit in person for enquiries β€” phone calls are rarely answered and can be actively declined
⏰Wednesday sessions are the quietest β€” worth planning around if flexibility allows
🎟️The pool pod and changing places room with hoist are available for families with accessibility needs
πŸš—Disabled parking bays are sparse and are frequently misused β€” arrive early

β€œThe classes are good fun with friendly instructors, the gym is small but alright. The things that let the leisure centre down are lack of communication- staff never answer the phone, they wrongly put strikes on your account when they change a class that does not suit you and unpleasant smells and cleanliness of the changing rooms. No ones ever tried to call back either. Ive tried to cancel my subscription online can I can't seem to do so, nor will anyone answer the phone again, surely this and better communication would be better for members?”

β€œAbsolutely shocking and unprofessional experience. Today I tried over 20 times to call Lashurit Centre in Northfield to ask about swimming lessons for my child. Most of the time my calls were actively rejected. On the two occasions they actually answered, as soon as I started asking a question, they hung up the phone on me. No explanation. No apology. Just hanging up on a potential customer. I also sent an email and, unsurprisingly, received no response at all. This is not how a professional business behaves. If you cannot answer basic enquiries or treat people with basic respect, you should seriously reconsider working with the public. Parents trust swimming centres with their children’s safety β€” and this level of communication is completely unacceptable. I would strongly advise others to think twice before dealing with a centre that ignores, rejects, and disconnects calls instead of helping customers.”
