Fantastic venue! We used this for the street comp, a stones throw from the bus station and a huge carpark next to the centre it's perfect for the commute by public transport or your own, we had the mini bus outside , it was a brill day and the hall was perfect for what we needed.

πŸ† Family Action Verdict

Best for families who want quality pool facilities and structured swimming lessons close to public transport. The shallow learner pool and parent-and-baby sessions serve young children well. Lane swimming at quieter hours is a reliable option for active adults.

ℹ️ What to Know Before You Go

πŸ’‘Arrive early for parking β€” disabled bays are often taken by those without badges
⏰The adult lane swim at runs with low crowd levels β€” good for regular swimmers
🎟️Sauna sessions are capped at 50 minutes with a queue system now in place
πŸš—Check the swimming lesson assessment process if your child is looking to progress groups

β€œGreat facilities & great classes. Worth the money each month. Only downside is the parking as many people park in blue badge spaces without a badge displayed usual leaving none available for those who need it.”

β€œLoved it. Got back into swimming after 2 months and went to the 8pm adult lane swim session and it was not overcrowded and calm atmosphere”

β€œTruly appreciate that you pushed us out! After asking for a simple assessment to move my child from the yellow hat group to the green hat group, we were repeatedly told he was not ready (with conflicting reasons given as to why he was supposedly β€œnot ready”), and he continued to be assessed in the yellow hat group rather than the green one, as we requested. We moved to another provider, where he was properly assessed and placed at his correct level (which would be the purple hat group in your facility). He is now swimming at the correct level and learning proper technique. This experience showed a clear lack of objective assessment and an unwillingness to listen to parental concerns. I strongly recommend that parents keep a close eye on how children are assessed here and seek a second opinion if needed.”

Overview

Oldham Leisure Centre features a 25-metre, 8-lane county-level pool with spectator seating alongside a shallow learner pool for beginners and children. The 80-station Technogym fitness suite is complemented by two dance studios, a dedicated spin studio, sauna and steam rooms. An adult lane swim session runs with low crowd levels. The large car park can fill during peak hours, and disabled bays are frequently misused. New sauna rules cap sessions at 50 minutes with a queuing system.
