I've been going here for years, even had lessons for a year. Like all ice skating, its pricey. But they've done a lot to fix the rink (it was a bit wet and pocked for our public skate today though) and the cafe is good and well-priced. Perhaps they should service the hire skates more. I take my own, and I despair when I look at the stock blue plastic ones that have no edges at all. For the sake of a bit more regular maintenance, folks would get a much better experience of the sport and come away feeling more competent, I can't help feeling. The only other advice would be to open up more of the surrounding seats rather than cause the bottle neck at the rink entrance and make everyone walk about with wet socks on their way to boot up. Don't have a solution to that. The lockers are good, and the ice staff are always in sight. Of course, I love skating and will always return there. Give it a go. Lessons are great and for Β£50 a month you'll become a competent skater in a few weeks which remains with you for life.

πŸ† Family Action Verdict

Best for families who visit regularly or are committed to developing skating skills β€” lesson reviewers report fast progression. Occasional visitors will enjoy the spacious rink and helpful staff. Rental skate quality is a recurring concern from reviewers; families with their own skates will have a better experience.

ℹ️ What to Know Before You Go

πŸ’‘Bring your own skates if you have them β€” rental skates are reported as poorly sharpened
⏰Ice Card membership reduces the per-visit cost significantly for regular skaters
🎟️Lessons are recommended for beginners β€” reviewers report becoming competent quickly
πŸš—Sessions run up to two and a half hours maximum β€” plan arrival time accordingly

β€œI take my daughter most weekends the staff are really helpful friendly and hard working. The venue could do with tidying up in places but nothing serious. The cafe is good but does get a bit overwhelmed when it's really busy it's a great place to go and have some fun πŸ‘β€

β€œNice place, but you really need to bring your own skates. The rental skates are not sharpened at all and very blunt, which makes skating almost impossible. On top of that, the staff don’t seem to know the difference between figure skates and hockey skates.”
