1 / 2Renfrew Victory Baths
📍 Renfrew, Central Scotland
A 1919-built 25-yard five-lane pool in Renfrew with traditional poolside changing cubicles, arched doorways, memorabilia displays, and a spectators gallery. Wheelchair access and pool hoist available on request.
Went for an overnight ghost hunt, and it didn't disappoint. It was very, very warm and creepy. The pool looked gorgeous, but we were there for a ghost hunt. So unfortunately I can't say what it is like for swimming.
🏆 Family Action Verdict
Best for families who value historic character and a relaxed, community swimming atmosphere over modern leisure centre amenities. Children attending swimming classes from nearby schools share the pool, so check session timetables if you prefer quieter lane swimming.

“Recently started length swimming again and this lovely old pool is local to my current job. Really welcoming staff and the quaint poolside changing booths made it an already inviting atmosphere to relax and exercise. Most of the main area that I saw was very well kept and maintained, the water in the pool was pleasantly warm but not so much that it was a chore to swim in. Like most older pools it could do with some painting and grouting redone in the pool itself but it isn't off-putting like some newer venues that seem to attract scale and rust. The parking is round the back if you haven't been before and you can walk through a fairly smelly lane to get to the front door Which itself is a nice feature.”

“Reminded me of the Calder Street baths I used to go to in the eighties. Cubicle around the pool, where you change and leave your things. There are lockers if that suits too. This is truly a Victorian Baths, (opened 1919) with one pool, and no modern type facilities. So just be prepared, regarding your expectations. We only went here, as our usual facilities were closed or full. Otherwise okay Experience, but will stick to modern facilities. Next week all Covid restrictions, where you have to book first are coming to an end.”

Overview
Renfrew Victory Baths is a genuine Edwardian swimming facility opened in 1919. The 25-yard pool retains original poolside changing cubicles — you change and store belongings at the pool's edge — plus standard lockers as an alternative. Staff are consistently praised for being welcoming and keeping the facility clean. Shower provision is currently sparse to four heads in one corner, with larger facilities out of order for an extended period.
