📍 Sheffield, North West
Indoor roller skating rink in Sheffield with public sessions Thursday to Sunday, quad and inline skate hire from infant size 8 to adult size 13, birthday party packages, and a licensed cafe.
Such a fun and retro night, my kids absolutely loved it! I love the fact there is a little café inside too. Partner and I got some beers and enjoyed watching the kids have fun together. Got some chips and gravy to warm up near the end as it's quite chilly in there.
🏆 Family Action Verdict
Best for families looking for an affordable retro skating session on a Thursday to Sunday visit. Children who are confident on skates will get more out of the session. The skating experience itself is fun and the rink is a good size. Party bookings have received poor feedback — party room capacity and food quality are the main notes.

“My son plays ball hockey here. The rink is large and he really enjoys it. Issue is other than the ice pad being replaced with a roller pad nothing has been changed or updated since it was the ice rink so very dated and run down.”

“We recently visited Skate Central on Queens Road in Sheffield with our 9-year-old daughter and some friends and were extremely disappointed with the experience. On arrival the car park and entrance area were chaotic due to a nearby football match, which made the environment feel uncomfortable for families. Once inside, the venue itself appeared poorly organised and the general cleanliness, particularly in the toilets, was well below an acceptable standard. The most concerning part of our visit, however, was the behaviour of a male member of staff who was possibly the manager. While I was sitting in the café area with another parent after buying drinks for my family, a staff member approached the table where some cupcakes belonging to our group had been placed. Despite being told they belonged to people we were with and not myself, he began aggressively gathering them from the table. During this interaction he knocked several drinks over, spilling them on my knee, my son’s knee, a friend’s bag and my leather handbag. When I pointed this out, there was no proper apology. He simply grabbed some paper towels and began wiping the area in a rushed and dismissive way. Even more disappointing was that other staff members nearby appeared to witness the situation, they also completely ignored it and made no effort to assist. Overall, the staff came across as poorly trained and lacking the basic customer service skills needed to interact appropriately with families. The aggressive manner, lack of professionalism and complete disregard for the situation left us extremely unimpressed and uncomfortable. It was a very disappointing experience at a venue that is supposed to cater to families and children. There is no way I would ever return and would not encourage anyone to ever visit.”

“Took my daughter here for a bit of fun and ended up with a £60 parking fine for my trouble. There's nothing when you pull into the car park that clearly tells you to register your number plate inside, and unless someone mentions it to you, you'd have no idea. It's a real shame because the whole point of visiting is to have a good time, not to come home and find a penalty charge waiting for you. You'd think a family-friendly business would make sure their parking setup was straightforward, but instead it feels like a trap for anyone who doesn't already know the drill. If you're planning a visit, do yourself a favour and ask about parking the second you walk through the door. I wish someone had told me before I got stung.”

Overview
Skate Central runs public roller disco sessions across four days with skate hire covering the full size range from infant to adult. Birthday packages include private party rooms, hot meals, and exclusive hire options. A coffee shop and licensed bar are available for spectating adults. The rink itself is large and well-used for ball hockey. Facilities are dated — no significant updates since the venue operated as an ice rink.
