1 / 3Ice Sheffield
š Sheffield, North West
Sheffield's twin-rink facility with a community ice pad for public sessions and the UK's largest structured Learn to Skate programme, plus the Bauer Arena hosting elite competition and Sheffield Steeldogs matches.
Free easy parking Welcoming reception area checked in and pointed to skate collection area we were early so no queues. Plenty of arena seating and tables. Vending machine for cold drinks at arena side or there's a cafe/coffee shop up the stairs. Toilets are also on the upper level. £10 skate session with skate hire I thought was reasonably priced.I booked via the everyone active app but I'm sure you can call the centre up and book that way. Modern clean arena.
š Family Action Verdict
Best for families with children pursuing skating lessons or wanting to watch competitive ice hockey in a warm spectator environment. The Learn to Skate programme is genuinely comprehensive and the ice is of high quality.

āNice ice rink, I've been here several times, as my son plays ice hockey. I do find it warm in there when watching the games, it's so nice sitting in a warm ice rink, especially as the majority of them are freezing. I know it's an ice rink, but you do appreciate a warm one, when watching a game.ā

āUsed to be great but has steadily gone downhill ever since it's been taken over. Awful website pushing subscriptions and memberships with public skating timetables being tucked away at the bottom in small print, three pages deep. Reduced evening sessions so tough luck if you have a job. Such a shame because I loved going there.ā
