1 / 3Social Climbing Solihull
π Solihull, West Midlands
Indoor bouldering centre in Solihull with routes from V0 to V8+, a traverse wall, and classes for children from age three. Social Tots runs for ages 3-6, Social Kids Club for ages 7+, with birthday parties and day passes available.
Flash was great fun. I visit various different bouldering centres around Europe when I get time off for work, and Flash offered everything you need. Easy parking, quick sign in/waiver etc, and reasonable prices. They even let me use some of their staff's personal tape when I'd forgotten mine. I didn't see any lockable lockers, but I never felt that my things were at risk at all. The place did get pretty busy, but we did go on a Saturday morning and there was a kid's party in. Saying that, I never felt as though we couldn't climb the problems we wanted to. There was also a weight training area in the back, and it feels like you could really train here if you wanted to take it more seriously. They offered some snacks/cakes and great tasting coffee, and I can't wait to stumble upon this place again!
π Family Action Verdict
Best for families with children aged five and above wanting to try climbing in a welcoming, non-intimidating environment. Staff accommodate walk-ins and first-timers with patience β a five-year-old's first visit is as well supported as a returning adult climber's session. Saturday mornings are the busiest period due to birthday parties.

βAccidentally went to open night thinking it was free for wider public but it was members only. It didn't matter and the staff were really keen to accommodate us. Friendly and welcoming atmosphere, we will definitely be returning.β
