📍 Tamworth, North West
Multi-attraction destination combining three heritage gauge railways, National Fairground Museum with operational vintage rides, Roundhouse Museum housing twenty-plus locomotives, Toby's Barn three-tier soft play, roller disco, and outdoor play
The Santa express was so so good. The activities were enjoyable - writing a letter to Santa, 2 rides, some fake snow, making reindeer food and decorating a biscuit. I also purchased the soft play and climbing wall. The price also included a visit to Santa and a toy from the toy shop. We spent the whole day there.
🏆 Family Action Verdict
Best for families with children aged two to ten who want a full-day destination combining transport heritage, fairground nostalgia, and active play. The Santa Express is the standout seasonal event — activities are genuinely varied and not filler.

“Visited for the santa Christmas express special with our 7 year old . Priced at £30 ish each. My intial thought was that it was a bit pricey. But I have to say it was very good. Centered around a train ride(7mins ish)(statfold barn railway) , to the north pole, delivering the letter you write (on site) to santas postbox in the village . The whole event was well organised. The village(north pole) is well laid out with bits to do. Gingerbread decorating, raindeer food to make, a few rides all included, Staff were all fab. We were looking at going to Severn Valley. Somewhere I had taken my older children in years gone by. But on checking what u get at Severn valley now. (no individual visit to santa, group viewing) and report from someone else that Severn Valley wasn't as good as it used to be. We decided to go to statfold. I would Def recomend statfold. And would Def go again. Statfold has other thing on site to offer aswell. Fair ride museum, play areas etc. Parking is free.”

“We visited statfold for the first time on a special statbus weekend where 50 vintage buses had come to be admired! But even without the buses there is so much for a family to do- museums of trains, roundhouse, 2 separate train rides, bouncy castles, diner, 2 playground parks, mini golf, softplay, climbing, roller skating rinks and a fairgrounds museum with vintage flat rides and arcades! The only thing that lets it down is the opening hours are 10:00-16:00 and so it’s hard to feel like you’ve seen and done most things you want to do and we payed almost £60 for a family ticket and then a further £20 for rides on the fairground. Some of the activities have an extra cost like roller skating and climbing! It turns into a very expensive and relatively short day!”

“Went to the Santa Express at the weekend and was very pleasantly surprised. Visited Santa's Post Office and met by Jingle the elf before boarding our train for the "North Pole" with loads of excited children. Short, fairly slow ride to our destination. Once there we were able to decorate a biscuit made by Mrs Claus, make up some reindeer food, take a VR sleigh ride and enjoy the decorated narrow gauge steam trains in the engine House. Santa was wonderful and the choice of presents was extensive. We didn’t get to visit the vintage fairground museum but we will return. All in all very welcoming and nicely done for the children.”

Overview
Statfold Country Park runs three separate railway gauges through Staffordshire countryside with unlimited rides included in entry. The National Fairground Museum houses operational dodgems and a ghost train; the Roundhouse holds over twenty locomotives. Toby's Barn is a three-tier indoor soft play. Seasonal events like Santa Express add structured activities — letter-writing, reindeer food making, biscuit decorating, and a Santa visit — on top of the standard offering.
