1 / 2The Climbing Hangar London
📍 London, Greater London
Indoor bouldering gym across three floors with routes designed for different heights and abilities. Coaches focus on safety and fun, free shoe rental included, and off-peak sessions are discounted.
I went to a girls event here with Chris and LouLou as our coaches. They were friendly and welcoming and guided us through safety, stretching then getting on the wall. They made our first session very accessible with some traversing(sideways climbing) games which lead to a lot of laughter. It made the focus less about completing a climb and more about just getting stuck in and less afraid of the wall. They showed us all 3 floors and we gave a few different colours a try. Even ones that are quite hard just to see if we could problem solve the start few moves. I loved that it wasn’t linear, like you have to complete grey before doing green instead the focus was on curiosity. I believe they do all girls sessions Friday evening and discounted sessions for off peak. They also had free sanitary supplies in the bathroom and offered everyone free water. I really enjoyed my session here and was a big fan of the coaches approach. I will be coming back hopefully when I’m in the area!
🏆 Family Action Verdict
A strong first-climbing choice for families with children aged 7 and older. The coach-led approach uses games and lateral movement before tackling height, which removes the intimidation factor for nervous beginners. Route variety across three floors means more experienced climbers in the group stay challenged too.

“Great vibes and really good route setting for all levels. Exciting things that aren’t just a whole load of tiny holds for the experienced climber + fun things that aren’t just ladders for the beginner One of the best places to learn how to climb as the people are friendly, shoe rental is free and the coffee is great. I’m 6ft1 and my friends are 4ft9 and we all frequently have fun trying the same climbs in completely different ways. Setting is super inclusive for all sizes. Theirs also a shirts on policy which makes the gym really female friendly imo.”

“Great bouldering gym that packs a punch for its small footprint. A bit tardis-like, over 3 floors it crams in a load of great blocs. I spent a couple of hours and tried all the greens, oranges, blues and most of the purples (which seem like V3-4). Friendly & helpful staff, and only £8 off peak. Lovely!”

“Amazing gym. Got the membership and I’ve been going consistently, always delivers. The boulders are well set and vary in difficulty and slope. Would recommend It also for beginners. Moon board and Splatter board available, which add a nice touch to the gym.”
