1 / 2The Scotsman Picturehouse
π Scotland
Small premium cinema inside the Scotsman Hotel, Edinburgh. Large reclining leather seats with a side table and lamp per seat. Guests take wine, popcorn, and sweets into the screening. Best for families with older children and teens.
We had a wonderful evening at this lovely little cinema. I've been to a few of the more luxurious type cinemas but this one is in a class of its own. The large leather seats are so unbelievably comfortable with a small dividing table between each one and a cosy, warm lamp all create a warm and cosy ambience. Our ticket included a bottle of nice malbec and some sweets and pringles. This on top of an exceedingly good film (Song, Song Blue) made for the perfect Valentines evening. Parking is difficult at the Scotsman however the lift down in the hotel takes you out directly opposite the Waverley station exit on Market Street where taxis are plentiful.
π Family Action Verdict
Best suited for families with older children, teens, or adult film lovers who want a proper special occasion rather than a standard multiplex visit. The luxurious setting and drinks-included format reward families who can sit quietly and appreciate the atmosphere.

βBest cinema experience ever. Wuthering Heights at the Scotsman Picture House was fabulous. We ordered a bottle of wine some popcorn and a bag of sweets and took them into the cinema with us. So comfortable and a very enjoyable afternoon with my two daughters. Canβt wait to visit again next time we are in Edinburgh.β

βThis was such a great & regal experience! My husband made reservations for us during our trip to Edinburgh and Iβm so glad he did. The theater is located inside the Scotsmanβs Hotel (itβs gorgeous inside!). The theater itself is very beautiful & posh. Think of it as a luxurious movie theater that comes with comfortable & large seats. The tickets come with popcorn and a drink. We chose their champagne and salted + unsalted popcorn. We purchased some pineapple juice and mixed it into our drink to create a mimosa. The folks in our group were as excited as we were and we had the opportunity to watch Elf which was perfect given it was close to Christmas. Overall the whole experience was lovely. The drinks, snacks, atmosphere, seats, and movie were all on point. It was a little pricey but this is also a more luxurious movie experience so it makes sense and 100% worth it! The only reason I gave it a 4 vs 5 was because it would be nice to have newer cinema options.β

Overview
The Scotsman Picturehouse operates inside the Scotsman Hotel on the Royal Mile with a handful of screening rooms fitted with wide leather seats, individual side tables, and warm lamps. Guests order drinks and snacks from the bar before entering. The screen count is small, programming is curated, and the intimate scale suits special occasions. Waverley Station is directly opposite for easy access.
