Great swimming pool that I have been using since Filton pool closed unexpectedly in April 2025 (but has since reopened) if has up to 6 lanes for swimming (less when there are swimming lessons or casual sessions) - Experimented on various sessions and did find that the casual sessions on the whole were the quietest (but I do have some flexibility) Also used the sessions on the weekend - showers are great - separate ladies and gentlemen changing rooms - Β£8 for a one off adult swim (as of Sept 2025) or of you go more often then get the membership - can be done on line just be careful which session you book on - I did the wrong one but soon got it changed to swim only!! Staff are great - if you can book in advance it would be great and easier and you can just used your card to present at the desk and not reliant on a member of staff being on duty (none will be around if the lifeguards are on rotation) Great pool and great staff, great facilities - I still have membership and will use on an adhoc basis a the pool I go to has reopened but would certainly go there as a back up and provided a great pol

πŸ† Family Action Verdict

Best for families with children already in structured swimming lessons or confident enough for a 1.2–3.8m depth pool. The teaching pool gives less confident children a shallower option. Families relying on a cafe or nearby parking need to plan alternatives. Most of the main pool is deep β€” not a splash-and-play venue.

ℹ️ What to Know Before You Go

πŸ’‘Book casual sessions for the quietest family swim experience
⏰Most of the main pool exceeds 1.5m depth β€” young children need confident swimming ability or stay in the teaching pool
🎟️No parking on site β€” plan public transport or street parking in advance
πŸš—No cafe β€” bring water and snacks for after the session

β€œA very hygienic and clean pool!! Went for a casual swim and was very pleased by the great quality of the pool! More than half of the pool is quite deep so not many areas that are shallow was was the only con for somebody who does not like dee pools. Ut was nice that there were places to put water bottle and towels next to the pool as well. Recommend it!”

β€œI love this pool. Have been going here for over 20yrs. Never too busy (if you don’t go when swimming lessons are on) and powerful showers. It’s a great place and a hidden gem :)”

β€œOn my very first time visiting this location, and after a pleasant swim, I was humiliated by a member of the staff. The lifeguard treated me, a paying guest and new member of the facility, in a highly unprofessional and disrespectful manner. I immediately proceeded to the front and cancelled my membership. I have never been treated in such a disgusting and disrespectful manner. I urge you to SIGNIFICANTLY BETTER train your staff member on dealing with members of the Public. I paid for membership for the entire year and was mistreated after one swim. I can only fathom what treatment I would have received if I stayed. I am very disappointed and will be looking for other venues in which to swim. I will be sure to advise all my colleagues looking for a venue to swim or exercise that the University of Bristol is not the place to go. The response from this organization is disheartening. There appears to be a continued lack of accountability for their employees disgusting behavior. I do hope for the sake of those who continue to use your facility that you train your employees better and that this behavior from the staff does not repeat.”
