Cultural cinema and cafe-bar on Bristol's Harbourside showing independent films, documentaries, and special screenings alongside locally-sourced food including a children's menu. Workspace areas with free WiFi available between screenings.
Cinema & cafe-bar with an arty vibe and great lunches! β¨ All round excellent place, you can take your laptop and work here too. The food is delicious! Their pork belly is the best π I had several occasions to lunch here and they never disappointed. They have a fixed menu but they also make different pies and specialties, so there is always something new. No need to book, the place is big enough and you can easily find a table. All facilities in excellent condition, cinema is clean and well taken care of, focused on independent movies and good stories, not blockbusters.
π Family Action Verdict
Best for families who prefer independent programming over multiplex blockbusters and want a quality meal as part of the outing. Children who enjoy films with Q&As or themed screenings will get more from Watershed than from chain cinemas. The Harbourside location means the visit can easily extend into a waterfront walk before or after the film.

βI visit often to go to the cinema there since my local Cineworld closed down. It's a very vibrant, inclusive place catering for a wide range of people of all ages. It can get very busy on a Saturday, so this is best avoided if you don't like a noisy environment. The rest of the week, it's still popular but less busy. The cinema shows a wide range of films including mainstream ones as well as those which are a bit niche, or art house.β

βA community space and cinema that needs to be protected. The toilets are especially convenient, and the cafe options are great too. I love that this cinema is right in the centre of Bristol.β

βLove the food, but the pricing for extras is disappointing I work in the local hotel industry and have been a regular here for a long time, visiting about twice a month. I always recommend this spot to our guests because the fish and chips are great, the atmosphere is lovely, and the soup of the day is my personal favourite. However, my experience today (08/03/26) was very upsetting. I ordered the soup (Β£6), which came with two tiny pieces of bread (essentially one slice cut in half). When I asked at the till for one more slice to finish my soup, I was told it would cost an additional Β£3. Charging 50% of the cost of the meal for a single slice of bread feels very unfair, especially for a loyal customer who frequently sends business your way. Itβs a shame, as Iβve always enjoyed coming here, but this interaction felt quite unwelcoming. I hope management can look into more reasonable pricing for small extras.β
