Willow Farm we have 39 DIY stables. The stables are run with the intention of providing a safe, family friendly environment for you to enjoy your horses and make new friends. The stable currently has one large floodlit all weather ménage and a second paddock which can be used for turning out or schooling (Plans in place to update the second paddock to all weather). You are welcome to bring your own instructor and the paddock can be booked for your lesson at no extra charge. We have all year round turnout and the herds are split into Mares and Geldings, in winter they have alternate turnout in our winter field and in summer (as soon as weather permits) we have 24hr turnout in our remaining large fields. Off road hacking is available via Urmston Meadows and for those wishing to show, Urmston riding club hold their shows on our doorstep. Café area for those all important brews stops and chat. There are plans to have staff living on site thereby providing 24hr security. Hay/Haylage included in the price, we also supply large bales of good quality Straw at an extra cost. New horses placed on quarantine for a week and wormed in that time to fit in with our worming Programme, although our policy is to worm count when possible. Fields are treated for Ragwort and all have electric fencing fitted. Plans are in place to upgrade the current horse wash area and tack rooms again part of the rolling plans of improvements.

🏆 Family Action Verdict

The right fit for families who already own horses and want a friendly, well-maintained yard with good hacking on the doorstep. Not a drop-in activity centre — visiting families need their own horse stabled here. The daily community atmosphere makes it welcoming for children who grow up spending time at the yard.

ℹ️ What to Know Before You Go

💡New horses must complete a week-long quarantine with worming before joining the yard
Hay and haylage included; straw bedding is charged separately
🎟️Bring your own instructor — the paddock can be booked for lessons at no extra charge
🚗Off-road hacking leads directly through Urmston Meadows from the yard

Very beautiful place. You can watch the water flowing and geese and ducks swimming, waiting for their food. There is an alley nearby where you can sit on a bench and breathe in a breath of fresh air.

My granddaughter has a horse at the farm. We are there every day. The people there are very friendly and always try to help each other out. Would recommend to anyone.
