Too many people complain about Woodredon as a livery yard - too many people are also pretending like they aren’t the problem 🫣 Woodredon is such a friendly and welcoming yard, with lovely facilities, amazing hacking, and really good year round turnout. The yard owner and manager are two of the kindest people I’ve ever known - they’re just real, and will try their hardest to sort any issues out as soon as they can Don’t cause problems, and you won’t have an issue at WEC. Its is such a friendly yard with regular events like dressage, clear rounds, working equitation. There are on site instructors, with regular private, semi private, and group lessons, while still leaving PLENTY of time for liveries to ride freely

πŸ† Family Action Verdict

Best for children aged 5-14 who want riding lessons combined with the bonus of genuine forest trail rides. The forest hacking access is the differentiating factor β€” it holds children's enthusiasm across a sustained course of lessons far better than arena-only schools.

ℹ️ What to Know Before You Go

πŸ’‘Book a course of lessons rather than single sessions β€” the progression keeps children motivated
⏰Forest hacks are available to lesson clients and are a genuine highlight children ask to repeat
🎟️Stable club adds grooming and horse care skills beyond riding β€” ask about availability
πŸš—The outdoor school can become waterlogged in winter β€” ask about indoor school access before booking winter lessons

β€œI would like to express my thanks to Woodredon and in particular Amy. My daughter has been coming for lessons here for 6 months now and also attends stable club and she loves it. Everyone is super friendly and always happy to help. Amy always responds quickly to any questions I may have and gives great advice. My daughter went on her first hack through the forest last night and absolutely loved it. Thank you everyone”

Overview

Woodredon Equine Centre backs directly onto Epping Forest, giving lesson clients access to guided forest hacking unavailable at most urban riding schools. Private and group lessons run throughout the week across multiple disciplines including dressage and jumping. A stable club option adds hands-on horse care experience beyond the saddle. Birthday parties include grooming and riding activities. Instructors are praised for clear, confidence-building teaching with children as young as 5.
