1 / 3Wythenshawe Park and Gardens
π Wythenshawe, North West
Sprawling free-entry park with multiple playgrounds, tennis courts, football pitches, bicycle tracks, fish-pond gardens, and a working bee centre where keepers explain hive science using live microscopes.
I remember this park from my childhood. And so it was wonderful to see it is thriving and has so many facilities for children and adults alike. Make sure you visit the bee centre, as the beekeeper is brilliant at explaining beekeeping and he has set up microscopes to show the bee eggs, parasites and loads more. Super cycling or jogging tracks and great play areas with swings, climbing frames, football, tennis etc.
π Family Action Verdict
Best for families wanting a genuinely free full-day outing with varied activities for children of all ages. Toddlers through teenagers all find their niche across the playgrounds, sports facilities, and farm area. The bee centre is a surprisingly engaging bonus β the keeper's enthusiasm is infectious.

βBeautiful park with lots of activities. On the park there is a playground, garden with plants and fish, tennis court, football pitch, bicycle tracks and many more. Parking is free. You can find an ice cream van everyday and there is a small cafe where you can buy a snack or a coffee. There are plenty of activities for the whole family, so come along and enjoy the day!!!β

Overview
Wythenshawe Park covers 250 acres with separate play zones for different ages, pram-friendly surfaced paths, a small farm area, and a bee centre staffed by beekeepers who set up microscopes to show eggs and parasites up close. A daily ice cream van parks up in season, and the on-site cafe handles snacks and hot drinks. Tennis courts, football pitches, and cycling tracks give active families a full programme without paying for anything.
