Independent 60-seat cinema inside a converted Edwardian library in Acton. Weekly Saturday kids club, parent and baby screenings, relaxed neurodivergent-friendly sessions, and a café with bar. Tables built into cinema rows for drinks during films.

Best kept secret ( not) in Acton High St. Bush Library became a theatre and bar and Acton Library became a cinema, cafe and untitled comedy space. Passmore Edwards the architect would be very please to see their second lives as entertainment venues par excellence. I attended a comedy night here hosted by the writer of Peppa pig. The room was comfortable with tables arranged within the rows to accommodate drinks. Very considerate and easier to tidy afterwards.. The ambience and camaraderie of local people and newbies like me was obvious and l enjoyed my evening except for the technicals of the mic Most comedians are loud personalities and in a room this size possibly they don't need much amplification. If my daughter found it a tad too loud my elderly ears had a few twinges. I suggest reducing the volume might be a good idea. The bar here is stocked here with intriguing choices so congratulations to the buyer. A sugar free ginger beer was very welcome after a hot afternoon. The popcorn was decent and if you fancied a hot savoury or a generous portion of cake they were on offer too. This venue was bought by local people and their determination to keep prices affordable for all of us is truly admirable. I'm going to try the cinema part next with cake and tea.

🏆 Family Action Verdict

Best for families who want a relaxed, community-run alternative to multiplex chains. The 60-seat rooms mean no anonymous crowd — children can shift in their seats without judgement. Parent and baby screenings remove the anxiety of a crying infant entirely. Neurodivergent children benefit from the dedicated relaxed sessions.

ℹ️ What to Know Before You Go

💡Saturday morning kids club is the main weekly family session — check the programme in advance
Parent and baby screenings run regularly — no need to avoid the cinema until children are older

Visiting from Canada and just took in the new Downton Abbey movie here. What a cool place and concept of a non profit neighborhood theater. It was really nice to go to a movie in a place not owned by a multinational corporation. Very nice staff and a clean, comfortable theater. Decent priced snacks as well.

I have been here twice. Wonderful staff, great vibe and brilliant movies that are not mainstream. I'll always try to come here even if I'm not watching a movie! It has a nice Bar, Cafe style vibe. Definite WFH option and highly recommend
