1 / 3Addiscombe Recreation Ground
π Croydon, Greater London
Well-maintained rectangular park in Croydon with free tennis and basketball courts, an enclosed dog exercise area, children's playground, and tree-lined scooter-friendly paths. No on-site toilets or refreshments.
I've brought up my children around this park. It's a lovely, clean dog friendly park with good tennis courts and now, a new basketball court. It's good that the tennis courts are free but some people still use the courts to play football and this ruins the nets. It would be nice for polite reminder signs to be placed in this area. There are 3 entrances into the park so good access for all.
π Family Action Verdict
Best for active families with older children who want outdoor sports without a formal booking or cost. The free tennis and basketball courts are well-maintained and first-come. Dog-owning families benefit from the enclosed off-lead area adjacent to the play zone.

βWhat a lovely park, well used by community, but also well looked after. People were very friendly. A great enclosed area to take your dog of lead. I went there because of the enclosed area for my puppy, but I was pleasantly surprised. I will be going back.β

βThis almost rectangular park is pretty much a stretch of nice trees around the outside (good for scooting as other reviewers have noted) and mainly grass. One side of the park is the childrenβs playground, basketball court and 4 tennis courts along with what looks like a dog-walking area. The much-photographed tree is in the south east corner, and while an impressive tree in its day its just dead and large but doesnβt offer any shade or climbing opportunities. The playground has a good mix of equipment in working order (including an accessible swing) and even on sunny days doesnβt seem to get too hot despite being metal. Though there isnβt any shade in the playground itself. Access is a bit limited with entrances at the North in the middle, South West and South East so itβs not great as a cut-through to improve a commute but entrances are easy enough to find. So itβs a great place for sport, perhaps as many as 3 full sized football games on the grass, and getting a tan, or a gentle walk, but not so great if you want some shade and a picnic unless you fancy sitting around the edge.β
