Nice playground, recently refurbished. It has four toddler swings, two older kids swings and a circular net swing. It has a rock climbing dodecahedron, a two storey “pirate ship” feature that has three slides for bigger kids of different ages (one is a steep tunnel enclosed slide). There’s a modern playground roundabout with seat, two rocking animal shapes (solo), a four seater rocking frame with animal theme. There is a middle climb and slide apparatus for bigger toddlers who are confident walking, and a smaller one for playground newbies. There are various creatures (pig, cow, frog and crocodile) and little wooden step/seat/tables in a wood chip area, and other small floor domes for climbing and jumping off. There’s a mini zip line. It’s next to the Slade Cafe who do really delicious coffee and nibbles. Always lock the gate when you leave and enter. Free parking is nearby.

🏆 Family Action Verdict

Best for families with toddlers and school-age children who want a varied, recently upgraded playground. The pirate ship structure suits confident climbers, the toddler swings and beginner slides cover the youngest visitors, and the nearby café makes it a complete local outing. Gate discipline is required — latch it on entry and exit.

The playground is well-maintained and designed with safety in mind. I felt completely at ease letting my kids explore and play. The play structures are perfect for young children, featuring slides, swings, and climbing areas that encourage active play and imagination. The area is clean and tidy, with benches for parents to relax while keeping an eye on their little ones. The other parents were welcoming, creating a friendly community vibe that made our visit even more enjoyable. Garland road Playground is a lovely park, it’s easy to access and offers plenty of space for picnics, family gatherings and one minute short walk cross the road to discover the local shops or if a coffee is needed. Overall, the playground is a wonderful spot for kids to have fun and for parents to meet. Highly recommended.
