1 / 2Camley Street Natural Park, London Wildlife Trust
📍 London, Greater London
Two-acre urban reserve with woodland trail, wetland ponds, canal-side path, and a covered open-air cafe. Kingfishers, sparrowhawks, dragonflies, and amphibians recorded on site. Free entry with select opening hours.
A little patch of natural peace and tranquility in the heart of the city, which is why I volunteer here. A great place to decompress after arriving by train. Attracts travellers, young families and anyone wanting to take a breather. Great covered open air café. Close to Coal Drops Yard and Kings Cross St Pancras.
🏆 Family Action Verdict
Best for families passing through King's Cross who want a ten-minute to one-hour nature detour rather than a full-day destination. Under-8s respond well to the pond dipping platform and the immediacy of the wildlife. Combine with Coal Drops Yard or the British Library for a longer visit.

“Not very big, but still a very nice spot to be in nature next to the canal. There's a short wooded walking trail and you can see a variety of wildlife. If you're nearby then it's worth seeing. There is no entry fee or tickets needed for entry, but it is only open for select hours so plan ahead.”

“Love this place! It was brilliant venue for our directorate awayday! View of the canal and developments around - with a sense of getting in touch with nature in the city. Great learning experience.”

“A haven of canalside calm just north of King's Cross and St. Pancras stations. Lovely places to sit and chill by the pond and on a floating barrage. There a plenty of interpretive boards, loos and a great café with indoor and outdoor seating as well as a large room for hire for courses, small conferences and workshops. All profits go to the London Wildlife Trust who manage the facility. Entry is free.”
