1 / 2Imperial Playground
📍 Carshalton, Greater London
Imperial Playground offers climbing frames, slides, a rocking pirate boat, tyre swings, and a two-seater spinning rope swing. Equipment availability varies — swings have been absent for extended periods and litter is a recurring concern.
Brilliant day at the event of Hoot in the park. Friendly police officers. The food was exquisite from the crepe van. The pride of the day was the Berkshire birds of prey, the birds were fantastic, and Angela and her team were very informative and very helpful in answering questions .
🏆 Family Action Verdict
Best for families with children who enjoy climbing and are happy on a frame-and-slide setup without swings. Check current equipment status before making a trip specifically for this playground — key items have been absent for months at a stretch.

“Good playground with fun equipment. Several climbing frames with slides, teeter totter, rocking springs, and a pirate boat that rocks. Fun tire swing and 2- seater spinning rope swing that kids love. Lots of rubbish and empty beer cans and a bottle or urine laying on the ground, it is in need of a good tidy up.”

“In need of serious updating. The rugby fields and river walks are OK but the playground leaves a lot to be desired. There has been no swings for months and the roundabout has disappeared. There are climbing frames and a tyre swing but needs more to keep kids entertained. Often litter and bottles scattered around and the grass isn't well looked after. Being the local park for so many children it really should be updated or at least maintained so what equipment is there is actually usable.”

Overview
The playground includes several climbing frames with slides, rocking springs, a pirate boat, tyre swing, and a two-seater spinning rope swing. The surrounding area connects to river walks and rugby fields. Maintenance has been inconsistent — reviewers across multiple years flag missing swings, a missing roundabout, graffiti, and persistent litter including broken glass and bottles.
