1 / 3Joseph Hood Recreation Ground
📍 London, Greater London
Large recreation ground in South London with two age-specific playgrounds, a splash area with water tables, multiple tennis courts, free parking, and a perimeter path suited to joggers and pushchairs.
Lovely park, absolutely huge and has a path going all the way around it, perfect for joggers. It has 2 playgrounds, 1 for very small children and a 2nd for slightly bigger kids. A new wet area for young children like a mini pool. Multiple tennis courts and a new outdoor gym is currently being built. The big green hosts areas for football and cricket. A minute walk through the attached wooded area brings you to the Cannon Hill Common, another large grassy area with a small water area for fishing and home to beautiful ducks and recently lots of little ducklings
🏆 Family Action Verdict
Best for families with mixed-age children who want a full day out at no cost. The dual playgrounds handle age gaps well and the splash area is the summer highlight. Bring buckets or containers to get full use from the water tables. Splash park fills fast on warm days — early arrival makes a meaningful difference.

“Great local park with a popular lido in the corner for summer visits. Several different climbing frames in different locations in the park. A choice of well maintained tennis courts. Large grass area suitable for the cricket matches that are played there. The path around the perimeter is popular with runners.”

“Has a car park at the far end, 2 playgrounds, 1 near the car park and 1 next to the splash park. Splash park gets packed very early, looks great though. Only downside I'd say are the water tables, kind of pointless unless you have buckets to fill it with water to make use of them.”
