I don’t know how many times we have been to this park over the years and only today we actually made it round the entire circumference (lots of stopping, going backwards, winding in and out the bushes/trees). There’s 2 play parks that have just enough apparatus to keep both kids (7yrs&2yrs) fully engaged and having fun but could definitely do with an upgrade now. The pond with the ducks, swans, seagulls, pigeons, floating wooden ducks was definitely the biggest attraction after the picnic on the bowling greens! So. Many. Dogs. Too!

πŸ† Family Action Verdict

Best for families with younger children aged 1–6 who enjoy wildlife and open-air exploration over challenging play structures. The duck pond and perimeter walk give older siblings and parents something to do as toddlers use the playground. Expect a very dog-friendly atmosphere throughout.

ℹ️ What to Know Before You Go

πŸ’‘Bring duck food β€” the pond is a highlight and ducks are reliably present
⏰Pack a picnic for the bowling green area β€” flat, open, and well-positioned
🎟️Paths are pram-friendly for the full perimeter walk
πŸš—A second play park elsewhere in Queen's Park suits older children aged 7+

Overview

Queen's Park Playground South offers a compact play area with apparatus suited to smaller children, alongside a duck pond that draws families for wildlife watching and feeding. The park's pram-friendly paths allow a full perimeter walk with plenty of natural stopping points in the trees and bushes. Two play parks within the wider Queen's Park site serve different age ranges. The environment is heavily used by dog walkers throughout the day.
