1 / 2Tooting Bec Lido
📍 London, Greater London
One of London's largest outdoor swimming pools at 91 metres, set in Tooting Common greenery. Unheated water reaches 22–26°C during heatwaves. Lifeguards on duty, quality changing rooms with showers and hairdryers, and an on-site cafe.
lovely lido. super clean and well maintained. been twice on the hottest days - pool is so massive it doesn't feel anywhere near overwhelmingly cramped. you get full sun until around 6pm peak of summer when trees start to shade off half the pool. water temp was 22-26 degrees in 30 degree weather. water fountain, ice cream truck and cafe with iced coffees and hot food on site. can't bring alcohol or anything with glass (jars bottles etc), security perform bag checks upon entry.
🏆 Family Action Verdict
Best for families with confident swimmers aged 7 and up who want a proper long-swim experience in a natural setting rather than a leisure pool splash. The sheer size means the pool never feels packed.

“Stunning, such a nice pool for a good long swim. At 91 metres it feels more like open water than a pool, and the lanes are so wide that you can easily overtake. Mornings in the summer are the best, and you can get a membership with Places for People that comes out to less than £35 a month for unlimited swimming. So so good - don’t be put off by the temperature it warms up quickly and you acclimatise quickly! You do need to book in advance”

“Wonderful outdoor lido set in the greenery of Tooting Common. The changing rooms are nice and there is good space to sit and enjoy as well as the enormous unheated lido. The staff are really friendly and pleasant. There is a cafe onsite, however it is not cheap- would recommend bringing your own snacks as it can quickly add up for a group of people.”

“A beautiful large swimming pool set in a green lawn with mature shady trees for hot days. Very clean, excellent changing rooms with showers & hairdryers, lifeguards on duty. We visited during a heatwave & the water was surprisingly warm, but have visited previously when the water temperature was quite a challenge.”
