On this occasion, I went to the park to play bowls, the club was friendly, the green was good and we had a lovely afternoon playing there. The park has tennis courts, kiddies, playground, the park is a green lung in the south Bristol area, a huge space of beautiful trees and grassland. A haven for runners and walkers it never seems crowded, but the park has lots of people doing their thing there. By the top entrance, there will usually be a van selling drinks and snacks, also the local community selling surplus fruit and veg. Well worth a visit.

🏆 Family Action Verdict

Best for families with children who can handle climbing equipment without soft surfaces, and who enjoy a natural, active park setting rather than a purpose-built playground. The wildlife — particularly the hand-feeding squirrels — is a genuine highlight for children of all ages.

â„šī¸ What to Know Before You Go

💡Bring monkey nuts to hand-feed the squirrels — they take food directly from your fingers
⏰Look for the drinks and snacks van near the top park entrance
đŸŽŸī¸The play area is partially open rather than fully fenced — keep an eye on young children
🚗Bowling club is open to visitors — worth checking for a family game

“Play area very busy with the majority of the children playing happily. Only tarnished by a number of young lads who insisted on bringing their cycles into the area and using obscene language and objectionable behaviour. Lovely to see a temporary cafe again... it really knits the community together”
