1 / 3Flashpoint Bristol
📍 Bristol, South West
Indoor rock climbing and bouldering centre with routes for all skill levels from age 4. Regular route rotation including a comp wall reset every four weeks, kit hire, weights gym, on-site cafe, change rooms, and pram access.
Overall its a spacious gym with pretty good climbing. Amount of climbs there are enough to go once a week without running out of new climbs to try. I think theres lots of lower to middle graded climbs which is nice for beginners and v5ish climbers. I think they max out at v12 (usually theres 1 in the gym), theres around 3 v10s usually, maybe 5 v9s. Theres a non adjustable kilterboard set at 50 degrees and a 2016 moonboard and a woody. The main gym holds are okay, I'm not really a fan personally, since they're not too grippy. However the comp wall holds and macros can get really nice. They now reset the comp wall every 4 weeks, which is amazing. Setting style suits me, it tends to be a more modern gym style: technical and occasionally dynamic, which is a style I prefer in comparison to TCA (bit more old school and outdoorsy). Theres just about enough lockers when it gets busy, and the gym does feel packed during the busy days. Weekends have been okay whenever I've gone.
🏆 Family Action Verdict
Best for families with children ready to climb independently — routes from beginner grades upward accommodate first-timers and developing climbers. Weekday evenings during term time bring heavy student traffic that makes the space hectic; weekend mornings are more manageable. The consistent route rotation means regular weekly visits stay fresh.

“I always likes flashpoint/ redpoint. settings are very well thought after and overall very fun for playing around. Location is very nice and public transport accessible. Came to know lots of familiar faces despite I don’t social with anyone. always feel very happy spotting and getting spotted by the regulars :). İt feels very much like a Bristol gym. When you climb there you don’t feel like climbing private equity acquisition or powerpoint KPİ dashboard charts shown to shareholders who confidently believe Aİ is the answer to everything including their broken marriages.”

“literally one of my favourite places in the world. the staff are the loveliest you could ever hope to find and the routes are just getting better and better. AND. as if that wasn’t already compelling enough. the food. SLAPS. yummy yummy yummy yummy yummy. yum. even more bonus points, the community is so wholesome, you’ll just start chatting to someone and boom, you’ve made a new friend. i don’t think i’ve met anyone unfriendly at climbing in my extroverted year of going. (got my first v7 at flashpoint)”

“Great bouldering with a good weights gym too. But beware! The car park is almost always full, and there isn’t a lot of spaces on the road outside either. I left my car on double yellows this evening and just came out to find it towed! 😱”
