1 / 3Genesis Cinema
📍 London, Greater London
Independent East London cinema in Bethnal Green with couch and footstool seating, multiple food venues including Grindhouse Café and Bar Paragon, and exceptional accessibility provisions for wheelchair users and mobility aid users.
Thank you so much to Jay and Cat!! They carried my 40 kg powerchair up and down the stairs themselves so I could watch the movie in it without me even asking and were so kind and professional about it. Truly went way above and beyond for me and I'm so appreciative. The Genesis have a device that can carry someone up the stairs as well, and ground floor theaters are accessible via ramp. I looooove the couch seating in the little rooms, so so comfortable and nice. Truly independent cinema that has done an impressive job making an old building as accessible as possible and staff clearly also value this :) I didnt use the restroom while I was there so cant comment if the toilets are truly accessible
🏆 Family Action Verdict
Best for families with accessibility requirements, or those wanting a more relaxed independent cinema atmosphere compared to large multiplex chains. The ground-floor couch seating is a practical advantage for families with young children who need to shift position during a film.

“Always love finding a new cinema in London. I went to the screening of Delicatessen recently, and found the cinema to be comfortable, and all of the staff really welcoming (which is always a massive bonus). Ticket that I had selected included popcorn in the cost, which I found to be ridiculously good value. Really knowledgeable and interesting intro before the screening as well. Will definitely be coming back when I get the chance.”

“This was my first time at this cinema and you get your moneys worth. Staff were lovely and attentive. The screen (4) itself was quite intimate, but I loved that there were sofas and a footstool. The toilets were also clean which was great. I’d defo come back and hope that it won’t be closed down and turned into apartments as that’s what’s being said on TikTok 😭 I’ve given its 4 starts, as although, I like the vintage aesthetic, some modern touches would be nice too!”
