This is such a lovely, calm oasis in Hackney and a great opportunity for children to get close to animals. My friend and I went specifically to visit the new goats (the piglets were also an absolute delight) and if I lived closer, I'd definitely be there all the time. The animals are very used to humans, so you can get quite close to them. The goats love ear scratches and the poultry, even though you're not allowed to touch them, are quite content to wander around your legs, which is really lovely. It's very small, but very clean and great for a quick visit.

πŸ† Family Action Verdict

Best for families with toddlers and young children wanting genuine animal contact in a low-stimulation environment. The animals are accustomed to visitors and approachable without barriers. Combine with Victoria Park or the Sunday flower market to build a half-day out. Not a destination for older children seeking structured activities.

ℹ️ What to Know Before You Go

πŸ’‘Combine with Victoria Park directly behind the farm for open green space
⏰Visit on Sundays to pair with the nearby flower market
🎟️Kids can stroke goats and get close to ducks and piglets without barriers

β€œWe recently visited this farm and absolutely loved it! πŸŒΏπŸ‘ The atmosphere is so warm and peaceful, and the animals are well cared for and incredibly friendly. My kids were over the moon meeting them β€” especially the little piglets, they were just the cutest! πŸ–πŸ’› It’s a wonderful place to spend time as a family: fresh air, a welcoming vibe, and a chance to show children what real farm life looks like. Highly recommend visiting, especially with kids.”

β€œI just love the fact that there's a farm in London. It is near a park, near the flower market (if you go on a Sunday). They sell good products and there's even a restaurant inside. An original idea.”

β€œWe had a lovely trip to the farm and the kids especially had great fun. There was also a little garden just next to the farm that had a fun activity trying to find all the different objects in the garden which the kids loved. However, if you’re planning a full day trip I wouldn’t recommend this as a full day out activity as the farm was quite small. Instead there’s a kids play area just behind the farm to visit but also Victoria Park nearby which has lots of geese and boats which can be great fun. All in all loved the farm and will definitely be coming in the future! πŸ€β€

Overview

Hackney City Farm sits beside Victoria Park and the Sunday flower market, making it easy to extend into a longer outing. Kids get close to goats and ducks that are thoroughly used to human contact. A vegetable garden shows how food is grown, and the on-site restaurant sells farm produce. Plan for a focused 1-2 hours rather than a full day β€” the site is compact and intentionally so.
