1 / 3Hackney Picturehouse
π London, Greater London
Multi-screen independent cinema in Hackney featuring East London's largest screen, El Jardin Latin American restaurant, bar, and private screening options in The Attic. Pram access throughout.
Honestly I liked this place a lot. I live in SW16 so very far but try to visit different cinemas and this one's got a nice vibe. Kinda industrial and brutalist inside, it's a big building with few floors and 6 screen. Mine screen, six, was small, but chair was comfy with good amount of leg room and even cup holders. Not hot and not cold inside with that old smell, but in a good way. Clean and tidy, various areas to hang out and have a chat, and drink and food area on the ground floor. Clean toilets, plus for that. Give them a visit, support your local.
π Family Action Verdict
Best for families with older children who appreciate independent cinema programming over multiplex blockbusters. The main screens deliver a premium feel with comfortable seating. Families should request Screen 6 only for low-action titles β it is significantly smaller.

βSuper friendly staff, really comfy seats and a cosy screen. I was in screen 5 last time but honestly they're all pretty premium feel. Also great popcorn and ice cream.β

βIn general I love this cinema, the staff are always friendly and cheerful. Its got a great vibe and the screens in general are great with comfy seats and great views However word of warning I would avoid Screen 6. The screen is tiny by cinema standards, I saw The Roses there last night and honestly wouldn't have made much of a difference if I'd waited and watched at home. This is definitely not the space for any form of live action or blockbuster film.β

βThe disabled toilet lock before screen 3 was broken and then coming into the cinema, the letters on the rows of seats are not obvious especially when youβre walking up the stairs in the dark. The sound wasnβt great and the screen didnβt feel that immersive (not very big). Then after a really sad ending, they abruptly turned the lights on full beam before we even got to the creditsβ¦.. disappointing experience.β

Overview
Hackney Picturehouse houses six screens including East London's biggest, with comfortable seating and generous legroom across all. El Jardin serves Latin American street food on-site alongside a full bar. The Attic event space is available for private screenings. Happy Monday discounts apply weekly. Screen 6 is notably smaller than the rest β best for drama rather than action or spectacle titles.
