Spacious South East London park where the River Ravensbourne meanders through wildflower meadows and open lawns. Three separate play areas, a skate park, riverside cycling paths, and a café make it a genuine full-morning destination.

An amazing place for walking with the whole family! The park is very spacious and well maintained. We really like how the Ravensbourne River meanders through the whole area — it creates a special atmosphere of wildlife in the middle of the city. The children are delighted with the modern playgrounds, and my husband and I appreciated the excellent jogging paths. In 2026, the park looks as fresh and green as ever. A real gem of South East London!

🏆 Family Action Verdict

Best for families with children of any age who want a proper outdoor half-day without paying anything. The river is the star attraction for primary-school-age children in summer, the skate park draws older kids independently, and the cycling paths are wide enough for young riders with stabilisers.

ℹ️ What to Know Before You Go

💡River paddling is shallow and safe for children in dry summer months — bring a change of clothes
Three play areas are spaced along the park, so match your entry point to the age of your child
🎟️Cycling paths run the full length; bring bikes or scooters for the best experience
🚗Blackberry picking along the hedgerows is a free seasonal highlight in late summer

This is a very well used park by locals in the area. there is a lovely stream that runs through the park with nature, walking and biking trails that run along side it. children often play inside there as the water level is very low in the summer. There are three children's play areas, a skate park and an outdoor gym, pay as you go tennis courts, baskerball courts, and table tennis tables. We often go to this park for walks and bike rides.

Ladywell Fields is one of my favourite green spaces in South East London. It’s a lovely stretch of parkland with the River Ravensbourne running through, plenty of open lawns, wildflower meadows, and tree-lined paths to wander. There are tennis courts, a playground, and even a café for coffee after a walk. A peaceful spot for dog walks, picnics or just escaping the bustle of Lewisham for a while.

A lovely open green space with plenty of room to walk, relax, or enjoy a picnic. The riverside paths and wide fields make it a great place for a peaceful stroll or some fresh air. Perfect for families, dog walkers, and anyone looking to unwind outdoors

Overview

Ladywell Fields stretches along the River Ravensbourne, with shallow water that children wade in during summer. Three distinct play areas cater to different ages, a skate park serves older kids, and wide tarmac paths run the full length of the park for cycling and scooting. Wildflower meadows and tree-lined riverside sections give the park a nature-corridor feel within SE London. Tennis courts sit at the northern end. A café operates on site.
