Natural adventure playground in Lickey Hills Country Park featuring a zip wire, rock climbing structures, slides, swings, and monkey bars. Challenging terrain makes it best suited to school-age children rather than toddlers.

The whole site is great and the playground is really nice too. There's lot of slides, swings and monkey bars. Theres also a zip wire that's got quite a kick to it, as I discovered when "testing it." It's probably not the best place to take younger kids. We took our toddler on a day when it was empty apart from us and she struggled with the uneven surfaces a bit. There are baby swings though and they are really good.

πŸ† Family Action Verdict

Best for school-age children (7+) who want physical challenge in a natural woodland setting. The zip wire delivers real speed and the rock climbing structures are genuinely demanding. Toddlers need close supervision given the uneven surfaces and open equipment.

ℹ️ What to Know Before You Go

πŸ’‘Weekday evenings often leave the whole playground free for your group
⏰Bring bikes β€” the open park land is well-suited for riding alongside playground time
🎟️Check cafe opening hours before visiting as they are variable and the menu is sparse
πŸš—Supervise younger children closely β€” several pieces of equipment lack side barriers

β€œHonestly loved this place. Absolutely empty on a Friday at 18.30pm, my kids had the whole area to themselves. It was enchanting yet peaceful, we enjoyed climbing the rock structure, balancing on trunks over the ditch, playing in the park and climbing the rocky hill. Next time we will bring the bikes and a football and spend a afternoon here.”

β€œNature, easy to difficult paths, depending on your fitness. Cafe serving hot drinks and currently limited selection, but tea and (naughty) sausage sarnie were delicious. All good”

β€œIt’s nice play area for kids clean enough but need some attention in the park on rain water”

Overview

Lickey Hills Playground sits within the country park and offers natural play equipment including a zip wire with significant momentum, rock climbing structures, slides, swings, and monkey bars. The uneven terrain and absence of safety barriers on several pieces of equipment suit older, more confident children. A cafe on-site has variable opening hours and a sparse menu. The wider park offers trails for cycling and walking.
