Mayfield Park Playground
π Manchester, North West
6.5-acre urban park with a children's play yard featuring 6 slides, ground trampolines, and multi-level climbing, built around the newly uncovered River Medlock. Free entry, 5 minutes from Manchester Piccadilly.
Such a lovely park. I went when it first opened and the weather was nice. It was clean and safe. There was a security person and there is no smoking which I love. Just been back a couple of years later and altho it was not the best weather, the park is still outstanding. I donβt live locally but itβs a 5 min walk from Piccadilly station. Totally accessible for everyone and anyone. Coffee/refreshments available on site and Freight Island next door for food hall
π Family Action Verdict
Best for families with children from toddlers to pre-teens who want a genuinely innovative playground within easy reach of Manchester city centre. Ground trampolines and multi-level slides offer more than standard play equipment. The river wildlife adds a natural discovery element. sparse rain shelter means it rewards dry weather visits.

βOne of our favorite urban parks. Playground has great elements - cool slides at different levels, ground trampolines, climbing and balancing surfaces and space to run and chase. The adjacent green space was nice for walking with bridges, grassy areas and a stepped grassy hill for rolling down. Clean toilets, law enforcement officer on site and an ice cream truck with a friendly operator.β

βFantastic park in a usual place, but it's been made beautiful ! It's great to see wildlife in the middle of piccalilli ! We saw an otter in the stream ! The park is fantastic for all ages ! The added bonus of a coffee cabin, ice cream van, toilets, and benches overlooking the green space. Little piece of paradise in the city !β

βWe had a wonderful visit to Mayfield Park, one of the best playgrounds we've taken the boys too plus the added bonus of the Cathedral of Sound art guitar installation which the kids were obsessed with. They've done a fantastic job with this park, we will definitely be visiting againβ

Overview
Mayfield Park was the first new park opened in Manchester in over 100 years. The play yard wraps around the newly daylighted River Medlock and includes ground-level trampolines, six slides at different heights, climbing and balancing structures, and grassy hills. Wildlife including otters, fish, and birds has returned to the river corridor. A coffee cabin, ice cream van, and toilets are on site.
