Oasis Children's Venture
📍 London, Greater London
Charity-run outdoor play space across four Stockwell sites with adventure playgrounds, a petrol go-kart track operated by local young people, and a nature garden. Free entry and inclusive facilities for disabled and non-disabled children.
I thoroughly enjoyed my time here between 1982-1985! I was a regular. The staff (Debbie and I think his name was David) allowed me to help them run the site. They used to allow me to hold the keys. I especially enjoyed Saturday afternoons between a certain time as Debbie use to sell beef burgers in bun (prepared on barbeque ) I think a burger was £0.20 I recall these being delicious. This site use to farm hens/ chickens. I also use to help putting them away in the hutch. I will never forget my mistake of rushing one of the chicks where I accidently stood on it. I think it died instantly. I told Debbie who was very kind and said just be careful next time......I apologised to the chicken who the chick belonged too as I believe that they understand English.
🏆 Family Action Verdict
Best for families with children aged 5+ who want an active community-based experience beyond standard playground equipment. The go-karting is the headline draw and works particularly well for birthday party groups. Toddlers are welcome across the broader play areas.

“This is definitely a hidden gem! Took 8 boys and 2 girls to the Go karting for 11th birthday and they all absolutely loved it went over to the adventure playground afterwards and had an equally exciting time. I am so impressed that the karting is run 99% by the local youngsters. What a great idea to help keep the young people off the streets. All the young people at the karting were helpful and showed manners and respect to everyone there. I will 10000% be returning to support this group well done Oasis 👏 5 star rating for you! I will definitely be telling everyone about your services.”

“Did you know that Oasis (information received by a full-of-wisdom member of staff) said Oasis is nothing like school, And school is like a prison? Some may think this is preposterous but other children may be amazed! I was certainly engaged. Oasis is a very good place to leave your children in good hands to have a day off. I really suggest you leave your children in their hands for fun. You won't regret it!”
