Pools on the Park
π Richmond, Greater London
Richmond swimming complex with indoor and outdoor pools, family changing rooms, cafe, and birthday party facilities. Booking system caps capacity for consistently clean water. Changing room condition is the main complaint.
So we finally managed to book a swimming session since it was 32 degrees and baking hot yesterday. Was nice clean pool, nice water temperature kids had a blast and it was lovely to chill and have a swim. It is a nice clean and spacious place. Has a good sized changing room. Lots of lockers which require tokens rather than locks or Β£1 coins. Has changing rooms for families as well. Hair dryers on site which are 20p. Offers an indoor and outdoor pool (weather depending) as well as a teaching pool. Nice spacious cafe on site selling a good range of food and drinks hot and cold. Lots of space to sit inside or outside. Could even chill there before or after your session. The team were friendly and helpful and I was happy we did visit. Would have loved to have use the outdoor pool but it was fully booked since others beat me to it for booking the slots. Overall a good first time experience. Would definitely go back. Try it for yourself...
π Family Action Verdict
Best for families who prioritise clean, uncrowded water over pristine surroundings. The booking system reliably prevents overcrowding and the pools are well-kept. Wear flip-flops and collect locker tokens at the desk on arrival to sidestep the main friction points.

βEasy to book timed swimming session which I think is great to avoid overcrowding. Friendly nice staff at reception. Great pool although the whole building seems unloved and outdated. My main issue is the cleanliness of the changing and shower area. The floor was filthy and the male toilets smelled foul. I nearly threw up with the smell in there. Personally I am not a fan of shared / unisex showers. Having to shower in front of women kids etc is not nice. Iβd use the pool more if I could somehow avoid the chafing area, it really is grossβ

βOutdoor pool pleasant to swim in in January; book your swim lane during quieter periods such as midday during the working week if you can. You need to get a token from reception for the lockers. Communal shower by the pool has a 4 second water flow before you need to press the tap. Staff were helpful. Wear your flip flops or slides because the floor looks as though it has never been cleaned (nothing that a pressure washer wouldnβt sort πΌ). I think hooks in the cubicles would be helpful.β

βPutting aside the health suite closure debacle which rumbles endlessly on, the management here canβt even get the basics right. This is the state of the 42 lockers in the male changing rooms. 7 out of the 42 have either no door or no lock. Refurbishment budget assigned since March 2022. Endless promises. No action. Itβs a real shame. UPDATE: Sarah Harries, Centre Manager read out this pre-written statement from GLL (Better) at the meeting on 04/12/25: "Lockers - we have currently commissioned a contractor to undertake the locker audit and they'll be undertaking work to repair lockers and replaced keys. We expect this work to be completed by the end of January 2026." In the male members changing, a few keys have been replaced, but NOTHING has been done to fix the locker doors, so still in the same state. Surprise surprise. On top of all this, GLL refused to disclose any details of the timescales of their successful 10 year bid for POTP. I had to file a FOI request to get it and now it can be seen that the changing room refurbishment and new health suite will not happen until Oct 2027 to Sep 2028. People should be aware that the council allocated Β£314K for changing room refurbishment in 2022 and has done absolutely nothing about it, while construction costs continue to rise. What on earth is going on here?β

Overview
Pools on the Park manages capacity through a timed booking system, resulting in clean, well-maintained pool water praised by most visitors. Family changing rooms, cafe, and party facilities add to the family offer. Lockers take tokens collected at reception rather than coins. Changing rooms and communal areas are consistently flagged for poor cleanliness and broken fittings.
