1 / 2Curzon Richmond
📍 Richmond, Greater London
Small independent cinema showing art house, family and mainstream films in a cozy setting. Has an on-site cafe with coffee and evening drinks. Facilities are dated — seating is cramped with no armrests and sparse legroom.
Great little cinema showing great variety of films, including art house. Very comfy and cosy. Little cafe inside serving coffee and evening time drinks. Love it.
🏆 Family Action Verdict
Best for families seeking independent and art house titles in an intimate local cinema setting. Choose shorter films — anything over two hours will feel uncomfortable in the cramped seating. The cozy atmosphere and varied programme are the genuine strengths.

“Fantastic cinema experience! I attended to watch Dune Part 2. The atmosphere is cozy, making it feel like watching with a big family. The snack options are excellent, and the seats are comfortable. The only drawback was the distracting location of the toilets right in front, causing disruptions when people went to the bathroom. Additionally, having reclining seats would be incredible!”

“Staff are nice, but the cinema has been dilapidating for a while and is now really in need of a proper modernisation. Seats are not the best and I wouldn’t choose this venue for anything running over the 2-hour mark. There is restricted foot room and no armrests, and some of the seat coverings are torn and worn. Nowhere to conveniently rest drinks, and it’s generally quite difficult to get properly comfortable, especially when the screen is busy. The sound also compares unfavourably to Curzon Kingston and Ealing Picturehouse. I’ve been a Curzon member for years, but am considering a switch to Picturehouse, as I find myself coming here less and less, because the auditorium doesn’t offer the same immersive experience that I can get in competing venues. The recent price increase for all tickets makes Curzon more expensive as well.”

Overview
Curzon Richmond is a long-standing independent cinema serving the Richmond area with a programme heavy on art house and diverse international films alongside mainstream titles. The on-site cafe serves coffee and evening drinks. The intimate atmosphere suits shorter screenings, and the screen and rake have drawn criticism for films running over two hours. Seating lacks armrests and legroom is tight. Toilets are positioned directly in front of the screen, causing disruption during screenings.
