1 / 2St James's Park Playground
π London, Greater London
Fenced playground for ages 2-10 with swings, slides, climbing frames, and sandpit. Tucked away in St James's Park, it stays quieter than most central London play spots with a cafe cart right beside it.
Beautiful little playground where our daughter spent over an hour here. It was a nice little reprieve when sightseeing Central London. If we let her I think she would have played for hours. She especially liked the slide area and the rope bridges there. There is a lot to do for kids in this playground including swings, a slide, sand to play with (and a lot more). Right outside the gates there is a coffee stand and across the street there was a band practice going on. The park nearby features squirrels which are also a nice distraction for the kids.
π Family Action Verdict
Best for touring families who need a genuine play break mid-sightseeing rather than a destination visit. Kids aged 3-8 get the most from the climbing and rope bridges. The fencing means parents can relax briefly. Toddler walkers do well here; crawlers need closer supervision on the sandpit stones.

βWe thankfully found this little oasis while at Trooping the Colour, and were able to get some refreshments and enjoy them in the shade at the playground. The cafe staff were remarkably friendly while waiting on hundreds of visitors on the busiest day of the year.β

βGreat playground! Fairly well hidden so never too busy. Secure fence all around. Next door to cafe and toilets. Surrounded by beauty and a glimpse of Buckingham Palace. Features sandpit, swings, slides and more! Kids loved it. 5 stars!β

Overview
Gated on all sides with a single entry point, the playground covers equipment suited to ages 2-10 including rope bridges, slides, and a sandpit. A cafe cart outside serves coffee and ice cream. The Buckingham Palace roofline is visible from the equipment. Toddlers need supervision near the sandpit's larger stones. Toilets are adjacent. Combines naturally with a pelican lake walk or a Guards parade day.
