1 / 2Woodbank Park
📍 Stockport, North West
Spacious Stockport park running along the River Goyt with well-marked natural enclosures, woodland walking paths, large open spaces for ball games, and a connection to neighbouring Vernon Park with a café and viewpoint.
This nature park at Stockport should be visited in cool weather or anytime the day. Interesting only for nature lovers. Having said if you are happy to walk around by yourself or with family along side the bank of river Goyt that is also fine - Natural enclosures which are well-marked. There is obviously also a lot of plant life but for me the river was more interesting.
🏆 Family Action Verdict
Best for nature-loving families with school-age children who can handle a proper walk to the river and back. The open fields work well for games and picnics in any season, and the Vernon Park café is a reliable end-point for adults who want coffee after a longer walk.

Overview
Woodbank Park follows the River Goyt through Stockport, with well-marked paths through natural woodland and open fields large enough for team games. The park connects directly to Vernon Park, which adds a café with panoramic views of the surrounding parkland. An annual Tribute Band Festival is held on the grounds, with a VIP area and facilities set up across the site. Paths are pram-friendly in dry conditions; wellies are advisable after rain on the river trail.
