1 / 3Yonder Indoor Climbing Gym
π London, Greater London
Bouldering gym in Walthamstow with eight distinct climbing areas including a kids zone, cave, island and competition wall. Mandatory family inductions required. On-site Wild Grains bakery, yoga studio and step-free ground floor access.
I've really come to appreciate Yonder over the past few years of climbing there, on how consistently good it is. The location is great, being only a 3 minute walk from blackhorse road station. The setting is really diverse, every new set has such a wide variety of climbs that often make you use muscles that you didn't know existed (for better or worse). Especially with easier climbs, where they make it so that they're not just a progressively more difficult ladder The space is really nice, being 3(.5?) levels it is just a very nice place to hang out, with each area being separate from each other but still feeling like they're together. With the cafe getting an upgrade as well I'm very excited to see how it turns out. My only peeves are that at times it can be very busy and it can be very hot, though busyness can be worked around by going at different times. The heat is also being dealt with by funneling the air from the AC's into the main area from the corridors, and sticking big wall fans up (more of them please) which has been a well needed improvement compared to previous years. The cost also being well below other gyms in London is a huge plus for me too, it feels like you get so much bang for your buck here compared to the bigger climbing groups.
π Family Action Verdict
Excellent for families with children aged 7+ who want a proper introduction to bouldering in a community-focused environment. Family inductions remove the guesswork for first-timers, and the route variety means children progress visibly within a single session. The on-site bakery makes it easy to stay for two or more hours.

βWhat a wonderful bouldering gym! Superb in all ways - great climbing, from accessible through to very tough! Definitely enough for beginners & intermediates but loads of advanced routes too. But what sets it apart is the all round experience based on the setting and vibe. Beautifully shaped and designed wooden walls, wraparound space including the cafe and training, multilevel, just unique. And the cafe kicks ass too! Get yourself a rice bowl and a coffee. Heaven!β

βFantastic place. Friendly and helpful staff. Excellent bouldering for all levels. Did the beginners course with Ashton, who is a truly great teacher, enthusiastic and patient, be even took the time to teach me a bit when we bumped into each other during one of his own climbing sessions. Canβt recommend highly enough.β
