1 / 3Forster Memorial Park
π London, Greater London
Established in 1922, Forster Memorial Park combines remnant woodland, open grassland, multiple age-separated playgrounds, a tarmac perimeter cycling path, outdoor gym equipment and an on-site cafe.
There is so much going on in this almost-hidden park. On a map you might see a big field with a strip of trees around the edge, but thereβs much more going on. The grassy main area is the size of several football pitches with a tarmac path all the way round thatβs perfect for kids to bike / scooter on. It has two playgrounds, slightly annoyingly separated by the toilet/changing block. Thereβs also a nature space. The trees around the side are deeper than expected and verge on a wood on the western side with their own paths, separate from the main area. Two secondary grass areas are perfect of you want to be a bit more secluded, have a picnic under trees, etc. The park can be accessed from all sides via paths, though Longhill is probably the best for parking as you donβt have to walk uphill and it is closed off at the southern end, so quiet.
π Family Action Verdict
An excellent all-day option for families with children from toddler age through to early teens. Younger children get two distinct playgrounds; older children and adults have a full perimeter cycling route, outdoor gym and woodland exploration. The cafe makes a longer visit practical.

βA peaceful green space thatβs perfect for a quiet walk or some fresh air. The woodland paths give it a really natural feel, and itβs a lovely place to unwind away from the busy streetsβ

βEstablished as a park in 1922 from land bequeathed by Lord Forster. A narrow perimeter of remnant forest encircles the central main field area and the smaller ancillary parcels of secondary grassland, βThe Meadowβ and βPiggy Island.β Some gestural formal bedding, a rockery and an attractive small community garden. The amenities include a cafΓ©, toilets, playgrounds, BMX track, sport fields, all-weather courts and an outdoor gym. A high level of maintenance evident here especially in the historic woodland corridors, making for a noteworthy suburban park that exceeded my expectations.β

Overview
Forster Memorial Park wraps a large central field with a perimeter of old woodland, creating distinct zones for different activities. A tarmac path circles the entire park and is well-suited for bikes and scooters. Two playgrounds serve different age groups, separated by the toilet block. The woodland sections extend further on the western side for more sheltered walks. An outdoor gym and sports facilities add options for older children and adults.
