1 / 2Worsley Woods
đ Manchester, North West
Well-maintained woodland in Worsley with multiple signposted walking routes, a central playground, a flowing brook, and connections to the Bridgewater Canal cycling path. Free parking at Beesley Green Community Centre.
Great woods for wandering on paths or going off paths to explore. Lots of exits and entrances with on street parking close by. Joins up with mixed walking/cycling paths, and Bridgewater canal. Great kids playground in the middle - I use as an outdoor gym đ The Delph pub is a great stop off - walker friendly, beer garden space for dogs, fab food and friendly staff đ
đ Family Action Verdict
Best for families who want a genuine woodland walk rather than a formal attraction â the woods reward exploration and repeated visits across seasons. The central playground acts as a reliable anchor point for younger children who tire of walking.

âBeautiful winter walk in the woods! The paved trails were wide and dry, with plenty of benches to stop and enjoy the views. The side trails were a bit muddy. Information on the history of the area is available in some spots.â

âIt's a wood, like a forest but smaller. Great place with a nice little brook flowing through.â

Overview
Worsley Woods covers a substantial woodland area with wide paved main trails and narrower side paths. Multiple signed routes vary in length. A central playground provides a natural stopping point for families mid-walk. A brook runs through the woods with seasonal wildlife. The main trails connect directly to the Bridgewater Canal and mixed cycling paths for extended outings. Side paths become muddy in wet conditions; main trails remain usable year-round.
